Electrical Rubber Insulated Mat for High Voltage Safety | ASTM D178

Electrical Rubber Insulated Mat
Rubber Insulation Matting; An Electrical Safety Staple
Rubber is a natural dielectric material which inhibits the flow of electricity and, due to its molecular structure, prevents the free flow of electrons. When this is combined with the flexibility and cushioning nature of the material, it makes an excellent choice for Electrical Safety Matting.
High-quality Electrical Safety Mats with mechanical properties and excellent electrical insulation are used to resist electricity while protecting workers on LV-HV switchgear, substations, transformers and electrical workstations against electrical shock by absorbing the live current which can result from a short circuit or other electrical leak.
The full range of electrical rubber matting from Hand Helmet is thoroughly tested to guarantee compliance with all relevant standards. The mats are manufactured using fine-quality rubber compounds.

Substations
Energy cords
Transformer rooms
Generator set rooms
AC installations
DC installations
Battery stations
Oil ring stations
Other workplaces exposed to electrical hazards
Electrical safety matting can support safer electrical operations in these areas.
General Specifications
According to the energized value or voltages involved in a workplace, there are five different categories of electric mats, including Class 0 to Class 4 insulating mats.
In addition to electrical safety, there are other features common across these classes.
Every electric safety matting product is tested before release to comply with the specified insulation requirements.
The bottom side is enhanced with a ridged surface to help restrict slipping and fall-related incidents.
Crafted from high-quality materials, the electric rubber mat provides both safety and durability when coming into contact with external factors such as punctures and cuts caused by sharp objects.
By incorporating modern technologies, the electrical rubber mat offers a thin and lightweight construction with increased electrical safety, voltage protection and resistance.
Each electrical insulation rubber mat should conform to applicable international standards and electrical safety policies.

Category Specifications
According to working voltage, the product shows markings on the reverse side with various colour codes.
Each colour represents the electrical class or the threshold at which the mat can handle voltage without leakage.
Red = Class 0
White = Class 1
Yellow = Class 2
Green = Class 3
Orange = Class 4
The following classification is based on the threshold level of electrical current resistance.

How Does Rubber Matting Prevent Electric Shock?
Electrical Safety Matting is an effective solution against arc flash, accidental contact with energized surfaces, and other electrical incidents caused by human error or system faults.
Made from electrical insulation rubber, these mats restrict the passage of electricity to the ground and the free flow of electrons, helping reduce electrical injuries.
Besides the electricity-resistant material, the construction of these mats is further enhanced with a ribbed surface that provides better grip and supports a safer stance in the workplace.
How to Know Which Class of Electrical Matting Suits Your Business?
Selecting the correct electrical insulated rubber mat from the various colour codes comes down primarily to the voltage exposure within the workplace.
The voltage safety rating mentioned for each class should match the highest nominal voltage level in the live working system.
This helps ensure the correct electrical insulation rubber matting is used together with the required personal safety equipment for workers.
Usability Precautions and Storage
To ensure the durability of your electrical insulation matting, it must be kept away from excessive heat and constant contact with corrosive materials such as:
Oil
Organic solvents
Ozone
Acids
In case of exposure to any of these materials or general dirt, the mat should be washed using the cleanser specified by the manufacturer and then allowed to dry.
If the mat is accidentally soiled with sticky material such as tar, the affected area should be cleaned with an appropriate solvent and then washed with the recommended cleanser.
Avoid:
Folding the mat
Compressing it under heavy weight
Storing it near extreme temperatures
The mat should be stored in a dark location and within its container as directed by the handling instructions.
These precautions help maintain the mat's durability and effectiveness in delivering safe performance.
